Santa Maria Novella is the main railway station of Florence. Santa Maria Novella is situated in the historical center of Florence. The Eurostar from Milan, Turin, Venice and Rome arrives in this station. Also the trains for Viareggio (and the Versilia coast) leave and arrive in Santa Maria Novella railway station. Arriving in this station it is possible to visit the historical center of Florence without take a taxi or a bus.
Built to plans by the 'Gruppo Toscano' coordinated by Giovanni Michelucci after winning a national competition, the Santa Maria Novella Railroad Station was opened in 1935. The designers insight to create a horizontal building that did not compete with the slender, soaring shape of the Medieval basilica that stands across the street was proved brilliant. In addition they selected stones as the cladding to harmonize with the church. The station is one of the most outstanding examples of twentieth century Italian architecture.

Luggage storage at the train station or airport
I am traveling to Florence from Barcelona. Will be staying in a villa near Brunello until Aug 9 when i will return to barcelona! My question is if there is some sort of luggage storage at the train station or airport for we would like to enjoy our full day in florence without luggage. Our flight does not leave until 22 hrs!

Camera lost in the Train Station Firenze S. Maria Novella
Hello, My family and I left our Canon Camera and case in the Train Station Firenze S. Maria Novella on July 8. We received an email from a person who said they found our camera and turned it in to this train station. Can you provide me with an email address or phone number so I can see if our camera is in Florence? We really want the pictures of Italy taken on our vacation! We know someone in Florence who will be able to ship the camera to us. Thank you.
